Group Chess Classes Policy & Frequently Asked Questions

When is tuition payment due?

Tuition payments are due before classes begin.  However, we do make exceptions under special circumstances. Please contact us if you feel you have a special circumstance and would like assistance.  We will be more than happy to work with you to best accommodate your needs.

Can my son/daughter take a trial class before deciding to join the class?

Unfortunately, we do not offer trial classes.

Can my child just take one or two classes and pay a drop-in fee per class?

Yes, please visit https://scholasticchessacademy.com/join-us/ to register and pay the drop-in fee.

Do you have different pricing for siblings?

We do not have a different pricing structure for siblings. We keep it a simple per student rate. However, for the king membership, you can split the classes between two siblings.

What is the difference between your chess classes vs. a chess club?

Our chess classes are much different than the standard “chess club”.  In many chess clubs, members simply get together and play chess.  Our chess classes have a great deal of instructional content.   Every class, we teach different chess concepts, ideas, techniques, and strategies.  Students have plenty of opportunity to practice using this knowledge during their practice time.

What happens if a student misses a class? Are there Make-up Classes?

Yes. We understand that students may occasionally miss class due to illness, vacation, or schedule conflicts.

Make-up classes may be taken at any of our open locations during an approved class time, subject to space availability and appropriate class level. Please contact us before attending a make-up class so we can confirm availability for the day, time, and location you are interested in.

Students may take up to 2 make-up classes for an 8-week course and up to 3 make-up classes for a 12-week course.

Make-up classes are offered as a courtesy and are subject to space and class availability. While we cannot guarantee a specific date, time, or location, we will do our best to accommodate your preferred schedule whenever possible.

What is your Refund Policy?

Please understand that there are no refunds. However, make-up classes can be taken for missed classes. (Please see above.)
